Meeting: Southern California Transit Advocates

Denny Zane, executive
director of Move LA, will speak at the August 8 meeting of Southern
California Transit Advocates on the subject of public transportation
funding. His presentation will begin at 1:00pm, with the So.CA.TA
business meeting to follow at 2:15pm. The event is free and open to the
public and will be held on the 4th floor of Angelus Plaza, 255 S. Hill
St in downtown Los Angeles.

Mr. Zane
is a former Santa Monica city councilmember (1981-1990) and served as
that city's mayor in 1988; he is also the former executive director for
the Coalition for Clean Air. He was the primary organizer of last
year's conference on ways to pay for the region’s road and transit
needs. In addition, Zane led the campaign that
resulted in the Los Angeles County Transportation Commission acquiring
the right-of-way for the under-construction Expo Line light rail, and
also initiated the campaign for Metro to begin purchasing natural
gas-powered buses.
