Full Disclosure: A Quick Note on the Expo Bicycle Advisory Committee

A quick note on the full disclosure front. As some of you already know, both Damien Newton and Gary Kavanagh were appointed to the Expo Bicycle Advisory Committee.

Newton was appointed by Los Angeles City Councilman Bill Rosendahl last month. Before accepting the appointment, Newton informed the L.A. Streetsblog board of his nomination and the Board agreed that he can handle writing about Expo at the same time he works on the bicycle issues on Phase II of the Expo Line.

Kavanagh was appointed to the committee by the City of Santa Monica. Kavanagh informed the Santa Monica interview committee of his potential appointment before he was hired as our new Santa Monica columnist. As with Newton, the Streetsblog Board was comfortable with Kavanagh's writing that he could cover Expo issues even as he worked on bicycle policy in an official capacity.

The Expo Bicycle Advisory Committee is responsible for working with the Expo Construction Authority on the Expo Bike Path, bicycle crossings at intersections, bike parking at stations and other issues that might arise in the design and construction of Phase II of the Expo Line which will finnish the connection between Downtown Los Angeles and Downtown Santa Monica. Expo Phase II begins in Culver City and ends in Santa Monica.
