On The Map 2013: South of the 10

Countering the LA Forum’s bias towards visiting architecture primarily within a narrow swath of Los Angeles spanning downtown to the Westside, the 2013 “On the Map” series will explore equally interesting and important projects in neighborhoods south of the Santa Monica Freeway. Sharing more than just geography, this year’s collection of projects raises provocative questions about the roles of both public and private institutions as clients in these areas. Undertaken by a mix of public agencies and private not-for-profit companies, they show a range of ways in which architecture has been used as a means to change or improve the delivery of public services. Join us in challenging your odometer, your typical cycling radius or your usual bus route.
