Fence decorations along the Expo Line. photo: Sahra Sulaiman

With the City Council considering ending the city's ban on new murals on private residential property, Streetsblog thought we could encourage the city by highlighting some of the best mural art found on commercial property in the city. To that end, we're happy to announce the 2013 Los Angeles Mural Photography Contest.

This one is pretty easy. Just take a picture of a mural somewhere on city property and we'll collect and post them here on Streetsblog. Readers will vote on the best mural, and the winning photographer will win a free t-shirt from Streetsblog Los Angeles or Santa Monica Next. If we can find the artist who painted the winning mural, that person will win a shirt as well.

Submissions are due by this Friday. You can leave links in the comments section or email me, damien@streetsblog.org. Staff and Board for Santa Monica Next and Streetsblog Los Angeles are not eligible.

We'll run voting throughout next week.
