SOUTH L.A. KICKBALL CLASSIC SPRING TOURNAMENT

javier partida kickball

Join some of my favorite South L.A. superheroes as they celebrate their 2nd annual South L.A. Kickball Classic.

Last year, Los Ryderz' president Javier "JP" Partida and John Jones III of the East Side Riders launched a summer kickball league to keep the youth from their bike clubs busy with healthy activities on weekend nights. In a community where black-brown tension can run high and there are few recreational opportunities for young people, they not only gave the youth a fun outlet and a sense of pride, they helped show the community that unity can be fun.

Stop by Ted Watkins Park to cheer on local bike clubs this Saturday as Los Ryderz, East Side Riders, Chopaderos, Team I.R.A., the Los Ryderz Sisterhood Pack, Ovarian Psycos, and Los Ryderz Prospects battle it out for the Watts Community Unity Trophy.

If you'd like to donate water or other supplies in support of their efforts, please contact JP of Los Ryderz. Or connect with their facebook event page, here.
